What I've noticed from providing thousands of private 1-2-1 therapy sessions over the last 21 years is that traditional therapy is flawed when it comes to treating self-sabotage.
Talking therapies give people a better intellectual understanding of their problems, sure...
But it does not work at a deep enough level to create change in the unconscious where all sabotaging behaviour comes from.
Traditional therapists don't understand that your inner self-saboteur has to be dealt with in a very specific way to ensure it agrees to let you be free.
If you are not aware of the best order to approach the process, you can end up antagonising that part and making things worse.
Pushing away more people and opportunities, not asking for help, feeling like an imposter…
Another problem I have with traditional therapy is how long it takes.
It's many sessions over a long period of time with no guarantee that you'll come out better at the end of it.
Not only that, but with traditional therapy you are dependent on your therapist to help you feel better, get clarity and deal with those moments of crisis
But what if they are away? Or ill? Or can’t fit you in for a week?
Well...
Then that's no therapy for you. Causing you to fall back into the very destructive patterns you're trying to break free from.
So the question is...
How do you create LASTING change in a short amount of time and in a way where you don't have to rely on anyone else?
